About this Talk
The Pharmaceutical Industry is abundant in data which is often highly complex and deeply siloed. It possesses a wealth of taxonomies and ontologies, yet these are often disconnected and poorly managed. This lack of data interoperability delays drug time to market, incurring both commercial and health-related costs for us all.
In this talk, we will explore the challenges associated with data management in the pharmaceutical sector and how they are being addressed through semantics. We will discuss the role of community collaborations, such as the Pistoia Alliance, in developing shared data standards and ontologies.
We will delve into the technology developed at SciBite/Elsevier to tackle these challenges, including CENtree, which offers a platform for collaborative ontology management and editing, along with a rich semantic API for integrating these ontologies with other applications.
